The Dedicated Grant Mechanism for Indigenous Peoples Project of Brazil has an objective (i) to strengthen the engagement of Cerrado Biomes indigenous peoples and traditional communities in FIP, REDD and similar climate change oriented programs at the local, national and global level, and (ii) to contribute towards improving livelihoods, land use and sustainable forest management in their territories. The project consists of three components. Component one aims to support indigenous peoples and local communities and organizations in developing on-the-ground, no regrets community activities of the IPTCs choice in order to promote sustainable forest and land use management systems, more resilient livelihoods, ethno development, and adaptation to climate-related changes. The component will provide sub grants for community initiatives, training and technical assistance activities and will include two subcomponents. Component two aims to finance capacity-building and institutional-strengthening activities that target IPTC organizations. These activities may contribute toward increasing managerial and technical capacities, access to financing sources for forest/land use and sustainable natural resources management, and participation in FIP, REDD and climate change-related decision-making processes. Component three aims to support the Projects technical and administrative management, dissemination, monitoring and evaluation.
