The Afghan Women’s Network is an integral part of the women’s advocacy efforts in the areas of rights, access to education and work, and development. Since 1995, the Network as been only one of its kind working as a unified group of women’s civil society organizations and NGOs for the advancement of women’s rights and the creation of a better future for the women and girls of Afghanistan.

The Afghan Women’s Network is a non-partisan, non-profit network of women and women’s NGOs working to empower Afghan women and ensure their equal participation in Afghan society. AWN has a strong presence in Kabul, Heart, and Jalalabad, while also working through local partners in several Afghan provinces. AWN fulfills the function of a network of organizations, and also undertakes its own projects addressing issues such as gender-based violence, youth empowerment and girls’ education.

The members of the Network also recognize the value and role of children as the future of Afghanistan and, as such, regard the empowerment and protection of children as fundamental to their work. The Network seeks to enhance the effectiveness of its members by fostering partnerships and collaboration between members, undertaking advocacy and lobbying, and building their individual capacities.
