AIDGLOBAL is the outcome of a voluntary experience in Conhane, Mozambique, at the Nossa Senhora de Encarnação´s orphanage, in August 2005. Inspired by this experience, Susana Damasceno, the now President of AIDGLOBAL, founded the organization in 2006 and since then made her dreams come true by creating a better and more sustainable future for children and future generations. 

On the 24th of February 2005, the Portuguese Government, via the IPAD – Portuguese Institute of help for Development (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) gave AIDGLOBAL the status of a Non Governmental Organization for Development.

The group's vision and challenge is to make the world a more fair, equitable and sustainable place to live with high levels of literacy and education, creating active citizenship.

The group's mission is to Identify, design and implement strategies and actions that contribute to eliminating the impediments towards access to education. Specifically, Aidglobal aims to fight illiteracy and promote the exercise of active citizenship in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), cooperating with the population and local authorities.
