SustainUS believes that young people should have a voice in the policy decisions that will shape our future. Our core program, Agents of Change, sends US youth delegations to advocate for justice and sustainability in United Nations meetings on sustainable development, climate change, eradicating poverty, biodiversity loss, and women’s rights. We are also developing new programs to support domestic organizing, including advocacy trainings, leadership development, and youth media production. SustainUS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the United States.

 

Agents of Change Program

Designed to facilitate youth involvement in international sustainable development policymaking, the Agents of Change program trains and organizes youth delegations to UN conferences. Since its establishment in 2004, the program has sent over 600 young people to conferences on climate change, sustainable development, social development, women, and biological diversity. SustainUS delegates work with hundreds of young people from across the globe to advocate for robust environmental and social policies.

 

Participants of the Agents of Change program engage in hands-on learning about policymaking at the UN while working with youth from around the world. From crafting effective media strategies and publishing op-eds to developing domestic environmental campaigns and lobbying government officials, the skills that delegates learn are valuable and long-lasting. SustainUS equips its delegates with the capacity to be effective leaders to push for strong sustainable development policies at these conferences and back in their communities.
