Institute for Criminal Policy Research (ICPR)

The Institute for Criminal Policy Research carries out multidisciplinary research into crime and the criminal justice system. They produce work which is independent, and objective and of the highest technical quality.

Their key audiences are politicians and their advisors, managers and practitioners within the criminal justice system and other professionals working with offenders. Their research approaches incorporate both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Their aim is to improve criminal justice policy and to contribute to academic knowledge and public debate about crime and criminal justice. Their audiences include policy-makers and their advisors, practitioners, academics and the wider public.

ICPR's new book Imprisonment Worldwide: The Current Situation and an Alternative Future, available from Policy Press, looks at prison populations around the world and draws on their World Prison Brief database.

Also available from Policy Press, now in paperback, is our book Inside Crown Court: Personal experiences and perceptions of legitimacy.
