Young Peacebuilders

Young Peacebuilders are devoted to helping more young people become more effective peacebuilders. Children and youth encounter many roadblocks hindering their peacebuilding potential. They work to remove these roadblocks and build bridges strengthening their peacebuilding capacity. Peacebuilding roadblocks and supports are encountered at many levels, from inside a family, to intergovernmental policy. For example, a parent may help transport their child to a weekly peace club and a government may implement a regional policy of providing peace education in public schools. They nurture environments where young people's peacebuilding potential is maximized. They do this by developing quality child and youth peacebuilding tools, projects, research, and partnerships. Together, supporting more child and youth peacebuilders and increasing their impact. Young Peacebuilders is an active member of the Global Partnership for Children and Youth in Peacebuilding and the UN Interagency Working Group on Youth Participation in Peacebuilding, and participates in other relevant child and youth peacebuilding related networks.

Young Peacebuilders not only develop their own projects, the Consulting Team develops effective child and youth peacebuilding focused partnerships, research, projects, and products for others too. For example, check out this multi-country participatory Evaluation of Child and Youth Participation in Peacebuilding that they conducted for the Global Partnership for Children and Youth in Peacebuilding.

The  team includes a diverse group of experts with experience ranging from catalyzing a peacebuilding movement as a child in a war affected nation, to practitioners and academics with PhDs in child and youth peacebuilding, and a Lost Boy of South Sudan who is now a PhD candidate and influential peacebuilder. And they are always adding new experts to the team.

Young Peacebuilders can help you develop a child or youth peacebuilding related idea, execute the already well developed plan, improve or expand an existing program, or identify a new solution. They can also work with partners to develop a holistic cross-sector strategy for effectively engaging large numbers of young people as peace actors in a conflicted context.
