Intercooperation is a leading Swiss non-profit making organisation engaged in development and international cooperation since 1982. Registered as a foundation, we are governed by 21 organisations representing the development community, civil society and the private sector. Intercooperation is both an implementing and an advisory organisation, providing professional resources and knowledge combined with social commitment .

 

Intercooperation specialises in rural development, our expertise, process competences and services being grouped around three principal working domains:

natural resource management ( agriculture and forestry )
rural economy
local governance and civil society

 

Intercooperation collaborates with partner organisations in more than twenty developing and transition countries. We undertake mandates and manage projects on behalf of the Swiss Government, mainly SDC and SECO, as well as many other government and private, Swiss and international funding partners.

 

In 2011, Intercooperation and Helvetas  merged to become one with a new corporate name “Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation HSI”. Both the organizations have a collective work experience of more than 80 years, hence a rich set of experiences is being merged to pool all the competences for a more effective well-being of people.

 

Helvetas was founded in 1955 as the first private organisation for development co-operation in Switzerland. Helvetas is a denominationally and politically independent association, supported by approximately 38,000 members, more than 40,000 sponsors and 15 regional volunteer groups. With 18 partner countries, Helvetas currently operates in Africa, Asia – including Central Asia  and the Caucasus
