Heifer International - Philippines is working for the values-based holistic development of poor communities in the country. Through the gifts of animals, farm materials, and livelihood inputs, Heifer Philippines strengthens the values of poor Filipino families and empowers them to work for their own sustainable and holistic development by helping one another.

 

It has a team of 21 dedicated members in the country program office and three regional field offices. Heifer International - Philippines works with 51 local NGO project partners to realize its vision and mission.

 

Cornerstones

Heifer International has long been effective in its development work because of its unique Passing on the Gifts approach. Each partner-family passes on the offspring of animals, knowledge, and other inputs it received to another family in need, thus delivering more impact and ensuring its sustainability of Heifer's fight against hunger and poverty. With Passing on the Gifts, families become donors and equal partners in poverty alleviation and the spirit of goodwill spreads to create more and more self-reliant communities.

 

Our Approach

Heifer Philippines is working to end the hunger and poverty of poor families through its values-based holistic community development (VBHCD) approach. Through the VBHCD, the human and personal values of project families are strengthened with the help of the Cornerstones. And with the use of the gifts of animals, training, farm materials, and livelihood inputs, the families are empowered to work for their own sustainable development and their communities.

 

Through a triadic partnership model, Heifer Philippines closely accompanies its NGO partners to bring VBHCD to project families. It carefully monitors and supports the progress of project families by regularly conducting the Participatory Self-review and Planning Process (PSRP).
