Information Center about International Cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean (ICICLAC)

The Information Center aims to provide demand-driven information about effective development processes and best practices of south-south and triangular cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Information Center focuses on process of development cooperation by: compiling, analysis, generation and facilitation of demand-driven information in a systematic approach, making good use of the efforts made by all development actors.

The technological infrastructure on one hand and the interinstitutional agreements at all levels on the other, permits the gathering, actualization and analysis of information regarding: the application of the Paris Declaration principals; new cooperation scenarios in middle income countries; aid transparency; good practices and lessons learned of SouthSouth and triangular cooperation process

 

OBJECTIVES

Generate, manage and transfer knowledge, in order to increase the effectiveness of development cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)

 

AIMS

• Facilitate information, documentation and analysis of topics related to effective development process in middle income countries.

• Increase regional dialogue and information-sharing for the dissemination of lessons learned on effective development aid models.

• Create an information data base of good practices that will help actors within the international community and partner countries, to improve their own understanding and skills on aid effectiveness and South-South and triangular cooperation.

 

RESULTS

ICLAC is the first information center created in Latin America and the Caribbean that provides information of development cooperation processes. Our results:

• Public interviews made by the Center on development cooperation topics with Presidents, Ministers, Parliamentarians, experts and practitioners.

• Aid  Transparency: analysis and geo-referenced maps of aid and cooperation flows in the LAC region.

• Political control on development aid by parliamentarians encouraged by our analysis

• Identification & compilation of key actors, documents, platforms, related to development aid in the  region

• Press and social networks monitoring and the management of  a blog of experts

• Generation of mutual positions towards Busan among the  academia and parliamentarian
