IWDA is the leading Australian agency entirely focused on women’s rights and gender equality in the Asia Pacific region. They are international, feminist and independent.

IWDA’s vision is for a world where every woman and man, girl and boy has equal rights and opportunities. IWDA partners with others in the Asia Pacific region to advance women’s human rights. They stand up for women and girls by tackling issues of power, money and security.

IWDA was founded in 1985 to progress the rights of women and address their absence as beneficiaries of, and decision makers in, development. Their purpose was to prioritise partnership and respect for women’s capacity, agency and human rights in all areas of development –priorities which remain at the core of the work today. Over their 30-year history, IWDA has worked with 194 program partners across 36 countries and territories.
