The PAPAI Institute is composed of men and women organized in the pedagogical and administrative teams. They are professionals and trainees with a background in Humanities, Social Sciences and Public Health, most with postgraduate degrees.

The PAPAI Institute was founded in 1997 with the purpose of reflecting the invisibility of male experience in the context of reproductive life and caring for children. A pioneering initiative in Latin America, the institution was based on the model of academic centers for studies on women and gender relations.

Today, diverse fields of knowledge argue that the involvement of men in the context of reproductive health / integral health can contribute to better living conditions for men, women and children. However, in their view, this is not enough. A critical reading, in the light of feminism, is needed on the processes of institutionalization that are built on gender inequality. In this sense, over the years, the PAPAI Institute has expanded its actions, constituting a team that has been producing knowledge, establishing partnerships, integrating networks, articulations; Concretizing products and processes.

Acting in the field of public health, in the diverse contexts of socialization, education and in instances of social control, they have worked to break down individual, symbolic, cultural and institutional barriers that create obstacles to greater male participation in the context of sexual and reproductive rights And prevent a deeper symbolic, political and practical transformation .
