The YP Foundation (TYPF) is a youth -run and -led organization that supports and enables young people to create programmes and influence policies in the areas of gender, sexuality, health, education, the arts and governance.
The organization promotes, protects and advances young people’s human rights by building feminist leadership, and strengthening youth led initiatives and movements.
Founded in 2002, TYPF has worked directly with 6,500 young people to set up over 300 projects in India over the last 12 years, reaching out to 450,000 adolescents and young people between 3-28 years of age.
Aim
To enable young people to internalize and engage in social justice, equity and social change processes, such that they can carry forward these linkages in their personal lives and not limit them to a one-time experience of working at TYPF. The impact and change that young people create is both at structural (policy and community) and personal levels. It resonates from personal beliefs and values that young people themselves hold, and the choices made by them.
TYPF encourages young people to take education outside the classroom and apply their skills, knowledge and innovation towards instituting practical solutions to Human Rights issues they have identified in their communities.
