Founded in 1982, Canal Alliance has been the leading service provider and community advocate for Marin's extremely low-income, Spanish-speaking immigrants for over three decades. The organization annually reaches more than 3,700 people who face multiple challenges. By effectively collaborating with more than 40 other agencies and with the support provided by 500 volunteers annually, Canal Alliance help resolve Spanish-speaking immigrants’ immediate needs – the symptoms of poverty. Then help them build a strategy to overcome poverty’s root causes. Through the comprehensive wraparound approach, Canal Alliance gain a deep understanding of each individual and family, identifying their strengths and needs in education, health, income, and housing. Using individual and family action plans, we encourage adults and youth to take advantage of educational opportunities and engage in long-term efforts to acquire crucial tools to thrive.
