Ignite was set up in 2001 by a team of experienced youth workers who gave away free youth work for a year, supporting themselves in a variety of other ways.  Their aim was to make life better for young people on the fringe of the education system. In 2007 they moved into their base in Wealdstone and in 2014 added a base in Rayners Lane.

Their aim has never changed and they now impact the lives of more than 700 young people a year.

Ignite Trust is faith-based but not faith biased.

Ignite Trust believes in the power of community. They build communities of change around young peoples’ interests and needs. They believe a healthy community draws people to itself, changes individuals and empowers them to impact their environment. Within these communities, positive relationships develop and barriers fall. 

They engage young people aged 13 – 25 in the centres in Wealdstone, Rayners Lane and in Harrow Recreation Ground; three areas within Harrow reporting high levels of youth anti-social behaviour.

Through the work in these areas, they can target some services towards young people connected to local gangs and/or displaying high levels of anti-social and criminal behaviour. They believe in relational work with young people, building relationships of trust that permit challenge and ultimately transformation.  

It is the desire to help and support young people in Harrow to reach their full potential.
