The West Africa Dispute Resolution Centre (WADREC) is a civil society organization established in 2000. WADREC seeks to promote Conflict Management and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the West African Sub-Region. WADREC is committed to encouraging the use of Conflict Management and ADR techniques in the early settlement of legal, business, traditional and community disputes in order to enhance the delivery of justice in communities in the Sub-Region, thereby promoting a peaceful environment for development. WADREC has provided Skills based Training in Conflict Management, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Peace building for various institutions and groups including Judges and Magistrates, Traditional Rulers, Members of the Land Sector Agencies, Professionals , Members of the Security agencies and Religious Bodies etc. WADREC also organizes advocacy programs on Conflict Management Alternative Dispute Resolution and Peace building Occasionally WADREC publishes literature on Conflict Resolution.

The organization has a 5 Member Board .The organization has a modest staff of 7 including the Executive Director and Associate Consultants.

Objectives:

To build the capacity of the public in Conflict Management and Alternative Dispute Resolution to make the delivery of justice affordable and accessible
To establish and operate dispute resolution centers all over West Africa
To establish training centers and to provide training in conflict management and dispute resolution for institutions and the public
To publish journals, reports, training manuals and newsletters and to explore new issues in all areas of conflict management and dispute resolution
