Purpose

In 1979, a group of innovators at Columbia University came together to help poor people caught up in New York City’s evolving homelessness crisis. Their purpose was simple: to engage faculty and graduate students with individuals who were largely invisible in the city.

Today, as a completely independent non-profit since 1993, their inspiration remains the same, and they excel at developing affordable housing and providing integrated programs that link housing, health and social services for New York’s homeless and most vulnerable people.

Services

For over three decades, their pioneering programs have delivered housing, financial stability, mental health and medical services to vulnerable New Yorkers while their training teams have provided professional development to a broad spectrum of staff from the human services, behavioral health and judicial sectors across the nation.
