Water for South Sudan, Inc., based in Rochester, New York, USA, is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation founded in 2003. The organization operates successfully with a small paid staff, a network of committed volunteers, and are supported by civic, educational, and faith-based groups and individual donors as well as grants from foundations.

The mission is simple: Water for South Sudan delivers direct, transformative and sustainable quality-of-life service to the people of South Sudan by efficiently providing access to clean, safe water and improving hygiene practices in areas of great need. 

As of May 2017, Water for South Sudan has successfully drilled 304 borehole wells, bringing clean, safe water to hundreds of thousands of people in South Sudan.

South Sudan is the world's newest country, achieving its independence from the Republic of Sudan on July 9, 2011.  It is one of the world’s poorest countries, and is about the size of Texas in the US.  Part of Water for South Sudan’s mission is also to develop basic infrastructure in the world’s newest country. The people in the organization's operating area are often underserved by the larger international humanitarian and government-sponsored relief organizations. Water for South Sudan fills those gaps by drilling for life’s basic necessity, water.
