Who We Are
The Black Church Center for Justice & Equality is a theological think tank and policy advocacy organization for progressive African-American faith and lay leaders. Founded by Reverend Delman Coates, Senior Pastor of Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, Maryland, the BCC developed out of an informal network of clergy and pastors of large denominations who convened regularly to discuss strategies for influencing social justice issues affecting the African-American community. The BCCseeks to provide tools and resources to pastors to carry out local and national social justice advocacy.
Mission
The goal of the Black Church Center for Justice & Equality is to reaffirm the social justice tradition of the Black Church by providing a platform for progressive theological debate, public policy advocacy and public engagement that will amplify the voices of progressive African-American faith leaders.
