Belgian Red Cross (Croix-Rouge de Belgique)

Leading player in the field of humanitarian action, the Belgian Red Cross is fighting every moment to relieve human suffering and prevent humanitarian crises.

With their 550 employees and 9,200 volunteers, they use every day all the means at their disposal to fulfill the various missions that they have set.

Missions

Prevent medico-psycho-social crises and help resolve them through education, training and their presence on the ground. 
Fight against isolation and marginalization by strengthening the social bonds between people,
Encourage tolerance and respect for cultural diversity in our society, 
In the respect of fundamental values, complete structural missions mandated by the government.

The object of the Belgian Red Cross

Act in armed conflicts, and to prepare them in time of peace, in all areas under the Geneva Conventions for all victims of war, whether civil or military.
Contribute to the improvement of health, disease prevention, the alleviation of suffering through training programs and mutual assistance in the service of the population.
Participate in the organization of emergency services for victims of disasters of any nature whatsoever, in terms both international and national.
Recruit, train and assign the staff necessary for the tasks entrusted to it.
Promote the participation of all, especially young people, the Red Cross activities.
Propagate the fundamental principles of the Movement and international humanitarian law in order to develop, within the population, the ideals of peace, respect and mutual understanding between all men and all peoples.

Auxiliary to Government

The Act of 30 March 1891 grants civil personification of the Association of the Belgian Red Cross. This is recognized as a charity in 1945. The Belgian Red Cross is auxiliary to public authorities in their humanitarian activities.
