Women's Feature Service (WFS) Philippines Inc. is an all-women media organization working for women’s human rights through creative media campaigns to educate women of their rights, build awareness about women’s situation among policy makers and the public. Women’s Feature Service (WFS) began in 1978 as a UNESCO-UNFPA initiative for the UN Decade for Women. Until 1991, it was a project of Inter Press Service (IPS) Third World News Agency. WFS became an independent news agency with headquarters in New Delhi, India, where news and features are edited for international release. WFS India still maintains links, forming a network of writers for its international news service. Today this has become the only link with WFS Philippines. The Philippine Bureau started in 1987 and grew out of a handful of contributors and a desk space at IPS to an independent news agency in 1992. Women’s Feature Service Philippines Inc. is a registered non-stock, non-profit corporation. Today WFS features both foreign and local appear in national and provincial newspapers including the UNIFEM website and other online publications. Philippine features are also published in Indian publications.
