IBIS Global

IBIS is a Danish, member-based development organisation working at all levels to create equal access to education, influence and resources for the poor and the marginalized people in Africa and Latin America. 

IBIS works within two main areas: Governance and Education. Through support to civil society in Africa and Latin America, IBIS wishes to secure that people have equal access to education, influence and resources.

Through information and political work in Denmark and internationally, IBIS will influence the political agenda and create greater understanding for the problems developing countries face as well as point out specific options for actions.

IBIS works with development in cooporation with other likeminded NGO's, national and international organisations and private corporations. The funding for IBIS activities originates from diverse sources i.e private, individual and corporate donors in Denmark, private foundations, national, government agencies primarily Danida (Danish International Development Assistance) and other major international donors (amongst other EuropeAid, DFID, CIDA etc), as well as other Scandinavian development agencies such as SIDA, NORAD etc.

Strategies and Programmes
IBIS' work is guided by the global strategies, developed to support the partners and fulfill IBIS' vision and mission. The strategies are approved by IBIS' Board of Trustees and implemented through the national strategies in IBIS' partner countries as well as the regional and thematic programmes.

Work
Education - IBIS is working to ensure that also the claim to a quality education is also afforded the most vulnerable and poor children, youth and adults. IBIS focuses on girls, women, people in conflict zones, child labours, ethnic groups and other groups that are disadvantaged in countries the organization is working in.

Democratic Influence - IBIS supports poor people and their organisations to understand the democratic process and be able to participate informed in the decision-making processes in their communities. 

Tax, resources and climate change – IBIS is working with issues around tax, natural resourses and climate changes to ensure the rights and better living conditions for the world's poorest.

Ebola Response - The Ebola epidemic in West Africa is heavily affecting the staff, partners and people IBIS works with. IBIS has started emergency activities and planning to combat the disease and its negative impact on the life of civilians.
