Energy Action Coalition (formerly known as Energy Action Coalition) is a coalition of 30 youth-led social and environmental justice organizations working together to build the youth clean energy and climate movement.

Working with hundreds of campus and youth groups, dozens of youth networks, and hundreds of thousands of young people, Energy Action Coalition and its partners have united a burgeoning movement behind winning local victories and coordinating on state, regional, and national levels in the United States and Canada.

The coalition’s work
Energy Action Coalition was founded in 2005 by youth activist leaders from across the country to build a powerful youth movement focused on solving the climate crisis and addressing environmental justice. Since then the coalition has hosted national Power Shift summits and coordinated on collaborative campaigns like the Campus Climate Change, Power Vote, and the campaign to stop Keystone XL.

Building the grassroots - Energy Action Coalition has a long history of supporting local, grassroots activism on campuses across the country.

Fighting for Justice – The coalition provides in-person training and webinars for the Fellows to assist in developing skills that will enable them to have greater impacts within their perspective communities. The fellows come from across the United States and Canada from frontline low-income communities representing Native peoples, African-Americans and Latino(a)s. By supporting local grassroots youth leadership to engage in regional, national and international conversations the youth climate movement will expand its base for the long-term wins we need. 

Growing the green economy - The drivers of the green economy are communities of organizers from all regions, backgrounds, and issue areas, who are cultivating the green economy in their communities. Energy Action Coalition partners work together to support these existing efforts and fuel emerging ones. 

Calling for bold change - By coming together to organize at the national level, Energy Action Coalition and our partner organizations demonstrates that our generation is leading the way to a clean energy future and demands that our political leaders and elected officials follow our lead.

Shifting the power - Energy Action Coalition has convened the four national Power Shift summits since 2007, each of which have been pivotal moments in building a powerful, strategic and youth-led movement.
