Since 1884, Madison has been saving and enhancing the lives of youth by providing youth development services for children in New York City’s most disadvantaged communities. Programs are engineered to empower each member to achieve three priority outcomes: Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and the adoption of a Healthy Lifestyle. Every day, Madison provides thousands of children with a safe and positive environment, one where fun is encouraged and positive role models are plentiful. A founding member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Madison currently serves more than 5,000 youth, ages 6 to 18, at seven sites throughout Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Madison provides targeted programs to young people who need them most. The Clubhouse environment fulfills five key elements that foster effective youth development and empower their young people to succeed:

-Fun activities that foster connections to peers and staff
-Supportive Relationships that reinforce that all members are cared for

-Recognition and positive reinforcement for young people’s accomplishments

-Academic Success programs ensure that their members have the support they need to succeed throughout their academic life and graduate from high school ready to pursue college or a career
-Good Character & Citizenship programs offer their members opportunities to develop leadership capabilities and make a difference in their community
-Healthy Lifestyles programs encourage their members to adopt a healthy diet, practice positive lifestyle choices and make a lifelong commitment to fitness
