The Ad Council is a private, non-profit organization with a rich history of marshaling volunteer talent from the advertising and media industries to deliver critical messages to the American public. Having produced literally thousands of public service advertising campaigns addressing the most pressing social issues of the day, the Ad Council has effected, and continues to effect, tremendous positive change by raising awareness, inspiring action and saving lives.

Mission

The Ad Council produces, distributes and promotes campaigns that improve everyday lives. Their memorable work inspires ongoing dialogue, engagement and action around significant public issues, creating a measurable difference in society.

Model

A private, non-profit organization, the Ad Council focuses on approximately 50 national campaigns at a time, each sponsored by non-profit organizations or federal government agencies. 

It works with volunteer talent from leading advertising, media, social and digital communications agencies across the country. Leveraging donated ad space and airtime, it develops integrated public service communications programs to make sure the messages reach the widest audience and have the greatest impact.  

In 2015, Ad Council secured over $1.6 billion in donated media on behalf of all of our campaigns. This means on average, each campaign received $30 million in donated advertising time and space for the year.
