The Boston Private Industry Council (PIC) is the city's Workforce Development Board and school-to-career intermediary. The mission of the PIC is to strengthen Boston's communities and its workforce by connecting youth and adults with education and employment opportunities that align with the needs of area employers. 

As Boston’s Workforce Development Board, under Mayor Walsh’s leadership the PIC oversees Boston’s one-stop career centers and the federal investment in job training. As the city’s school-to-career intermediary, we deploy a talented and highly motivated staff to generate workplace experiences for young people and to help create pathways that lead from high school to early career, while re-engaging those young adults who have fallen behind. We also bring employers, educators, and workforce organizations together to create innovate pipelines into their respective industries and professions. The PIC relies on its collaboration with business, the Boston Public Schools (BPS), higher education, government, labor, and community organizations to get its work done.
