Hope Community Project

The Hope Community Project (formerly the Haiti Orphan Project) is an initiative of the Keane Charitable Group, a registered 501(c)(3).  HOPE is located in beautiful downtown Kirkwood, Missouri approximately 10 miles west of Saint Louis.

HOPE has grown from an organization that was founded to help deal with a natural disaster to one with a well thought out, long-term vision. Keane and Prouty realized many of the young children weren't orphans by the conventional definition, but were "economic orphans." Those children had family members – maybe even parents – outside Village de Vie, but in a country with no public education system and no real economy, their families thought the children would be better off in an orphanage. At least there the children would eat, go to school and maybe see a doctor. HOPE has now expanded its programs to focus on health care, jobs and education for the broader community. Keane used the story of one mother to illustrate HOPE's broadened mission.

Mission
They exist to facilitate the development of healthy communities through partnerships with Haitian churches and organizations to encourage sustainable physical, spiritual and economic health; they desire to communicate Christ-centered compassion as well as respect for the dignity and resources of the Haitian people.

HOPE’s overarching goal is orphan prevention. They seek to help vulnerable families stay together, as well as to encourage extended families and communities to care for the orphans among them. They desire to walk alongside them helping through school sponsorships, medical care, and economic development. They are committed to providing at-risk families and children in the target area a viable alternative to traditional orphan care in Haiti.

HOPE Medical Project serves the medical needs of the deeply impoverished, at-risk and orphans in the local community. They are committed to creating a permanent presence in the target community and ongoing mobile clinics in support of a variety of ministry partners who represent communities with an established need.
