   Required Skills, Competencies and Experience
This assignment is suitable for a firm. The applicants are expected to demonstrate the availability of a team with the right combination of qualifications, competencies, and experiences necessary to carry out the assignment. The following are indicative qualifications, skills and experiences:
i. Advanced degree in relevant disciplines such as Business management, Agricultural Economics, Trade Economics, Macroeconomics with skills and experiences in econometric modelling, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural statistics and market analysis, Finance, and Business Management or related field or in any other relevant discipline.
ii. At least between eight (8) and ten (10) years of experience in food security analysis with multi-country experience.
iii. Past experience in strategy development is a necessity.
iv. Demonstrated understanding of Africa’s food and nutrition security, agriculture, and trade policies, as well as political economy landscape. Understanding of the role of Regional Economic Communities including COMESA in this space will be an added advantage.
v. Deep knowledge of regional food trade and market systems development as it relates to food and nutrition security, and a demonstrated ability to catalyse change in addressing market challenges.
vi. Ability and experience with agricultural statistics and market analysis, and economic model development, including linear programming.
vii. Ability to develop sound project reports that can be understood by a wider stakeholder audience.
viii. Strong communication, financial management, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
ix. Previous experience of conducting a similar assessment will be required.
x. Good command of English required.
